Advanced kicks

Multiple Crescent Techniques - Crescent kicks can be performed by either the forward or back leg while in Seisan stance or the Cat stance, while only the leg nearest the opponent can be used while in Seiuchin stance. In any case, the leg, as it moves toward the opponent, forms a semi-circle, with the foot extended. The strike should take place upon the target with the flat of the foot (outer edge of the foot emphasized) with the inside of the arch of the foot facing upward. These techniques can be used as a strike, a fake to set up a hand strike, or a part of doubling up your techniques.

1- Crescent Kick to the back of the knee - to the rear of the closest leg.

2- Crescent kick to the Achilles tendon - actual kick should be aimed at the upper  insertion of the Achilles tendon.

3- Crescent kick to the Scapula - having swept to the leg, throw this kick at the back of the closest shoulder.

4- Crescent kick to the spine - similar to the Scapula kick, delivered closer to the opponent and extended to the spine. In this kick it is possible to turn the foot so that the heel hits the target.

5- Crescent kick to the back of the head - again the leg simply reaches higher.

6- Crescent Kick to a Back Kick - from a Seiuchin stance perform a right crescent kick which barely brushes the arm or shoulder, continue to pivot, landing with back partially to the opponent. Quickly throw a straight back kick with the right foot to the opponents body.

7- Crescent Kick to a Round House Kick - from a Seiuchin stance throw a crescent kick to the opponent’s lower leg. As it touches, spin on the ball of the left foot and strike into the opponent’s back with a right foot Round House kick.

8- Crescent Kick to an opposite foot Round House Kick - From a Seiuchin stance, throw a right crescent kick into the back of the opponent’s knee. Upon impact, withdraw the right foot with power, simultaneously, leave the ground with the left foot, throwing a left round house kick to the opponent’s chest.

Reverse Wheel Kick - standing either in a Seisan or Seiuchin stance, pivot on the ball of the forward foot, while simultaneously pushing off the back foot , back leg moving in an arc with your body spinning backward toward the opponent. The heel of the foot is aimed at the target area, which is the back, or the back of the head.

Spinning Flying Wheel Kick - in Seisan stance, with left foot forward, propel the rear (right) foot and as this takes place, push into the air off the left foot, spinning your body in the air to the left. This will bring your left foot to the target, using the impact point, your left heel, to strike the opponent’s head.

Jumping Double Front Kick - in Seisan stance, leap into the air, throwing the rear foot into a front snap kick aimed at the opponent’s jaw. While in the air, throw the other foot, in a front snap kick at the opponent’s solar plexus. Land on your feet in Seisan stance, with hands in ready position and throw a follow up punching technique.

Front Snap Kick into a Round House - in Seisan stance, throw a front snap kick at the opponent’s groin, with either s the kick reaches the target, the opponent should be drawn into a block. At this point, the kicking foot snaps to the side in an arc and the ball of the foot strikes the opponent’s head.

Reverse Crescent Kick - (refer to the description of the Crescent Kick listed above)  in this case, in Seisan stance, the forward foot can be thrown upward and to the outside, used as either a block on the opponent’s punch/kick, or a strike to the opponent’s head. Point of impact is usually the side of the face and the foot strikes with the outer edge and/or heel.

Ax Kick - Using the Reverse Crescent Kick, but in this case, using the rear foot in a Seisan stance,  throw the kicking foot to the opposite side of your body and bring it back toward the opponent and strike down with the heel. The impact point is the opponent’s clavicle (collar bone).
